Farhad received his bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning from Tehran Art University in Sep 2004 and his masters’ degree in Urban and Regional Planning from University of Tehran on the topic of “Assessment of Seismic Vulnerability of Residential Areas using Cluster Analysis” in Jun 2007. During his studies his interest in computational urban modelling led him to GIS and geospatial technologies in urban planning. After Bam earthquake (2003), he also started focusing on urban seismic vulnerability analysis using geospatial technologies and since then his enthusiasm about natural hazards management in urban areas has been playing the main role in his academic and career interests. During his professional career as GIS specialist and urban planner in both private and local government sectors (2004-2012), he was mainly involved in GIS mapping for urban development and urban renewal planning, vulnerability assessment of urban areas and hazard mitigation plans. Farhad also was a part-time lecturer at the Tehran Art University from 2007 to 2011, where he taught several courses in the geographical information system (GIS) and computer aided design in urban planning projects.
